Samsung’s Galaxy S7 losses 8GB of storage right away thanks to Android and TouchWiz

samsung_galaxy_s7_edge_gold_back_logo_camera_closeup_TA
Like usual from Samsung, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have a ton of their storage already taken up before purchasing. Although these phones are offered in 32GB, the actual usable storage will only be 24GB as Android and Samsung’s TouchWiz take up 8GB of storage.
This is, of course, before you load on any of your apps or enter any personal information that still needs to be synced. Once you do all of that, the usable storage again decreases.
Before the Galaxy S7 came out, I expected this to be the case as my Galaxy S6 Edge has roughly 7-8GB of its 32GB storage taken up by the operating system. With the amount of features the phone has, it becomes annoying very quickly having to delete things to make more room. However, at least the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have microSD card slots. If you are planning on purchasing one of these phones, I definitely suggest picking up a large microSD card too.

The NBC app for Android devices offers up full episodes and clips of top shows, and now supports Google’s own streaming accessory.
The most recent update to NBC’s mobile app means that users can push TV episodes selected on their smartphone or tablet to another monitor, taking the action to a bigger screen.
Chromecast support was a highly-requested feature up until this most recent release, so the news that NBC has finally added Chromecast compatibility will put smiles on plenty of faces.
In our review of Google’s second generation Chromecast, we found the streaming stick a delight to use, complimenting the TV accessory on an improved user interface and seamless overall experience.

The NBC app for Android lets you watch your favorite shows for free, provided you enter your TV provider username and password. Whilst entering these details will give you access to the app’s full library, it’s possible to watch content without entering the information, although there’s less to choose from.
Hundreds of episodes of classic shows like Miami Vice and Battlestar Galactica are waiting over on the NBC mobile app, along with more recent hits like The Blacklist, The Voice and Saturday Night Live. Users can highlight their ‘favorite’ shows to have them saved for easy access on return visits to the app.

LG 360 Cam to provide the full view via Google Street View

lg_360_cam_with_lg_g5
LG joined several other manufacturers at MWC 2016 in revealing hardware designed to help people capture 360-degree content. Putting creation of this content in the hands of consumers will be a key component to the future success of virtual reality devices. Along with easing creation through devices like the LG 360 Cam, an easy method for others to access this content is needed and more people are turning to the Google Street View platform. This has prompted LG to ensure the LG 360 Cam supports the Open Spherical Camera (OSC) API backed by Google and used in the Street View app.
LG says the 360 Cam is the first camera from a smartphone manufacturer that is optimized for Google Street View. This will make it much easier for those using the device to capture, upload and share content instead of going through the trouble of converting and processing files into another format for consumption. LG’s Kim Hong-joo Kim says,
“until recently, creating 360-degree images and videos required expensive and heavy equipment out of the reach of everyday consumers. LG 360 CAM will enable users to create their own content easily and share them freely in a way that nurtures a new mobile ecosystem within the LG Playground.”
Google welcomes the addition of 360 Cam content as well with the product manager for Google Street View, Charles Armstrong, noting 500 million Street View users will benefit from the new content to be added to the platform by LG users.

Bold Knot is a smart charging solution for users on the go

boldknot-3
Modern day Android smartphones pack massive batteries inside which could last you a full day when necessary. However, for power users, even this doesn’t do the job and they ultimately have to resort to plugging in the charger just when they’re about to end their day.
That’s where an accessory like the Bold Knot could be of great use to the customers. This Indiegogo backed charging cable comes in a neat bundle of knots, with a cable on each end, one for the USB adapter and the other for your phone (micro USB or Lightning). It carries juice on its own, with up to 3 hours of usage time said to be provided by the accessory.

The cost of this accessory has been set at $99 for a bundle of four, which is a limited period offer and a savings of $60. So if you want to buy the accessory at a later date, it will set you back by $40 a pop. You can watch the demo video below to understand how Bold Knot works.

Leak: HTC to release the low-end ‘H7′ tablet in the Q2 2015

htc_logo
We’ve been hearing rumours that HTC is working on its own range of tablets ever since the Taiwanese company was chosen to manufacture the Nexus 9. Thanks to a leak posted on Twitter, we can ascertain that one of the tablets being developed brandishes the ‘H7‘ code-name.
Besides the ‘H7‘ code-name, @upleaks says that the tablet is of the low-end variety and is scheduled for release sometime in the second quarter. Which, seeing as we are already in May, means that the ‘H7‘ should be announced in the next 6 weeks or so. If the leak is 100% correct of course. In the meantime, I’m sure that we’ll be seeing more leaks about the ‘H7′ and any other tablets that HTC are allegedly prepping for release.

Domino’s accepting hashtags and pizza emojis for orders

dominos_logo
Ordering pizza once involved a telephone or an internet connection. Remember those days? Of course not! We have evolved. Domino’s, the pizza chain that supports smartwatches, wants customers to be able to order through Twitter. Simply have an online profile housed on the Domino’s site and enable the Easy Order option. Then use ‘#EasyOrder’ along with the pizza chain’s handle after jotting down an order.
Since Twitter limits the amount of characters in a Tweet, Domino’s has an alternative. The pizza emoji.
