HTC jumps into e-sports arena, sponsors teams and teases new home entertainment device

A few days ago, HTC announced on Twitter that it was heading off to the e-sports arena, particularly in League of Legends. It will be sponsoring THREE teams: TSM, Team Liquid, and Cloud 9. Each of the three teams have historically competed in Counter Strike and Dota 2 as well, but LoL is the only game mentioned by HTC.
Differing from other tech companies like Razer, HTC doesn’t really have any of its products that are associated with e-sports gaming. The Verge explains that after Q1 of this year, that may no longer be the case.
During CES 2015, The Verge’s Vlad Savov talked with HTC’s head of software and services, Drew Bamford, who had this to say: “Some of the other stuff may feel evolutionary, but this is a totally new space.” Savov went on to say that Bamford promised that there would be revelations by the end of Q1.
What was their conversation in reference to? The home entertainment market.
